The 16th International Symposium on Highly Efficient Accelerators and Reconfigurable Technologies (HEART 2026) was held from June 17–19, 2026, at Heidelberg University, Germany. The symposium brought together researchers and industry experts to discuss the latest advances in FPGA-based acceleration, heterogeneous computing, open-source tools and frameworks for efficient acceleration, AI accelerators, high-performance computing (HPC), and energy-efficient computer architectures.
The conference was chaired by Dirk Koch (Heidelberg University) as General Chair, with Frank Hannig (Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg) serving as Program Co-Chair alongside Riadh Ben Abdelhamid (Heidelberg University) and Ray Cheung (City University of Hong Kong). The technical program featured keynote talks from leading experts from NVIDIA, Microsoft, and academia, highlighting the growing importance of accelerator technologies for AI, scientific computing, and next-generation computing systems.
