The Chair of Hardware/Software Co-Design at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) is looking to fill the position of a
Doctoral Researcher
Available immediately. The position is full-time and serves for continued scientific training, including the possibility to pursue a doctorate.
The Chair of Hardware/Software Co-Design is seeking new members to join our team in the following research areas:
- Hardware security concepts (hardware module development, cryptographic implementations, FPGAs, synthesis, image processing applications, and IoT devices)
- Massively parallel processor systems (Invasive Computing, tightly-coupled processor arrays, processor architecture design, approximate computing)
- Domain-Specific Computing (Development of domain-specific programming languages (DSLs) in the fields of scientific computing and medical image processing, high-performance computing, domain-specific optimizations and compilers, and code generation for accelerators (many-core processors, GPUs, FPGAs))
Integration into ongoing research projects at the Chair of Hardware-Software Co-Design and collaboration with other doctoral students provide an excellent academic environment and a wide range of opportunities for professional development.
Your Profile:
- You have a Master’s degree in Computer Science (CS), Electrical Engineering (EE), or a related subject.
- You have skills and interests in computer architecture, electronic design automation, hardware description languages (e.g., VHDL, SystemVerilog, Chisel), and FPGA design tools.
- You have skills and interest in parallel computing and compilation (e.g., LLVM/Clang, MLIR) and applications from AI and high-performance computing.
- You enjoy working in a team, are open-minded and communicative, and are interested in both the methodical and practical aspects of novel processor architectures and corresponding compilers.
- You have a high proficiency in oral and written English. German is beneficial.
