Short description:

Modern control systems. e.g. such as used in cars and include many sensors and actors, are called “Cyber-physical Systems (CPS)”. They recognize their surroundings, process this information and are able to interact with this surroundings. Therefore the physical application model must be strongly connected with the computer control model. In contrast to embedded systems CPS consist of many networked components, that coordinate each other.
